Headboard to Blackboard ?

I almost forgot...

When I was in my chalkboard phase, I did this little number.

I really don't know what this was.  I found it in the local thrift store.  I am assuming it was the headboard of a crib ?   In any case, there was no crib! Nothing attached to it. So I bought it.

This one I might keep.  I have the perfect spot for it.

It has chains so I can hang in any spot in my kitchen.

Haven't hung it yet, but I'll get there

Home Sweet Home

I've become quite the scrapper lately!

I've been carousing the scrapbook isles of the local craft store and I can't get over how beautiful all the paper is.  That coupled with my Modge Podge craze lately = THIS

All 'round Charmer

Another in a series of small tables I've been doing.

This round table was heavy and very sturdy, but totally neglected.

Done up in a stone grey, and a fleur de lis...and viola!

Telephone Bench Redo !

I really love the old telephone tables and benches.

This was was an exceptional find as it was actually a bench rather than a chair.

Again, I really went for a vibrant colour.  I knew I was going to glaze it down.

This was the red without the glaze.

This was after glazing.  Beautiful!

Long Legged Beauty

When I found this little, long legged occasional table, I scooped it up. I just loved its long sleek legs.

Here is the before.

And here it is with a coat of white, distressed and antiqued with a dark grey glaze.

Black & White Half Moon Table

I found this little table a while ago. It's been patiently awaiting it's makeover.  It started like this.  Very Art Deco.

I could have gone for something more traditional, but I opted for

something more punchy.

It's All About Vanity

Since I posted my very first Vanity on here I've had overwhelming response.  It's really amazing what a comeback vanities have made.  More and more women are looking for one for that special corner in their 'boudoirs' !  It's really no surprise that something so pretty and so feminine would never go away completely.

Here is another I was working on for a Client.  She wanted this for her teenaged daughter who is into those pretty and feminine things.

Here is what I had to work with.  An ordinary writing desk.  Ordinary yes, but still very nice in it's own right. (and REEEEALLLY GLOSSY) auughhhh!

You can't beat a good sander and bonding primer!

After it was painted and sealed, came the fun part,

dressing it up nice in preparation for..

her Photoshoot !

I opted for simple old antique handles.

The brown/rusted colour matches the skeleton keys under the glass.

She's even beautiful on the inside.

Tiny Chalkboard Table

I've been fixated on Chalkboard paint for a while now.

I just want to chalkboard EVERYTHING!

So I took this tiny little table that had leather on it...

stripped the worn and marked leather off, painted her up ....

and of course...

CHALKBOARDED IT!

Ok, I think I'm done with Chalkboard paint for a while.

Viridian Green Desk Reveal

At last the Viridian Green Desk is done.

As a refresher, here she is in her original state.

My Client opted to take the centre drawer out to allow her chair more room.

And here she is now

She makes me proud!

A little Peek

Here is a little sneak peek of something I am working on.  I am refinishing a desk for a client.   She requested the desk to be a viridian green to go with another piece she has in her home.  This was no easy feat!  Matching something to something else I have never seen is not easy at all.  BUT... I think I managed to do it!

Here is the desk before.

The viridian green was too flat and uninteresting by itself.  It needed texture.

Here is a door that was painted just the green.  The rest of the desk had been done already

I used the most interesting tool.  I LOVED working with this wood grainer. This little handheld thingamagigger just puts the wow into any flat wooden piece.

After it's all painted and dried, mix up a glaze and paint it on.

I wiped down the glaze and then pulled it with a dry brush.

The wood graining tool comes with 2 edges that you run across the surface to put the fine grain in first.

and then comes the fun part... just look at this grain!? The wood graining tool comes in a half moon shape.  To get the desired grain, you simply rock the tool back and forth while dragging it down the surface.  If you don't like it, paint on some more glaze and drag it again.
