A little while ago I was contacted by Ikea with a terrific opportunity to spend $100 on holiday decor. As much as I am known for refurbishing older furniture I have to admit, Ikea is a weakness for me. I can spend a day browsing down the arrowed aisles gathering ideas and new items for the house.
So let’s be honest shall we? Did I stick to my $100 budget?… nahhhh. Too many little seasonal items struck my fancy.
Start with this gorgeous lit red star STRÅLA. This beautiful paper star lights up a dark corner of my room perfectly. And at the end of the season, I can just fold it up and store it flat.
These red FENOMEN candles come in a pack of 5, perfect for grouping or scatter them around the house. This grouping of candles sit on the SKURAR white candle dish and the SKURAR candle dish sits on Ikea’s SMYCKA artificial spruce wreath.
SMYCKA Dried Willow branches stand in an old barrel and are spruced up for the holidays with some seasonal fillers.
SMYCKA Artificial evergreens fill up my old galvanized jug. There are three types of evergreens, but I really like the cedar sprigs… very lifelike. I bought quite a few as you’ll see, they’re scattered throughout different decorated areas.
Very often in my posts you’ll see these little plants. Since I don’t have much luck with real plants these little guys are perfect. FEJKA artificial plants can be dressed up for the holidays too.
I loved this FEJKA table top artificial tree, placed in JULMYS pots that come in red and white. I could have bought a half a dozen of these trees.
More artificial SMYCKA greens dress up my newly acquired miniature sleigh (thanks Mom.)
Now here’s a little something interesting… when Ikea asked me to participate in this offer, they didn’t know I already owned an Ikea KIVIK sofa, which I love. It’s the perfect backdrop for the red BJÖRNLOKA throw. I haven’t owned a throw as comfortable as this one….it’s amazing to curl up with !
This gorgeous red pillow goes perfectly with the comfy throw.. dare ya to lay down and not nod off within minutes. I’m not sure what the name of this pillow is, might be BJÖRNLOKA.
Another throw GURLI in Grey… and just another place the wreath looks pretty.
Down in the kitchen I placed a white ROTERA lantern. I mean $3.99.. really? It’s a no brainer.
Yet another use for the artificial wreath, seen here wrapped around a white GEMAK Colander, a perfect place to display fresh apples.
I have to mention that the cabinets you see in the picture below, were made by Mr. Charming and they’ll be seen in an upcoming post. He constructed the cabinets but the doors were actually bought at Ikea and painted to match my decor. I believe they’re RAMSJÖ doors and they came in dark brown.
Stay tuned for this cabinet project coming up soon!
Thank you Ikea for the Gift Card and allowing me a little pre-Christmas shopping spree!
Very pretty, Lisa! You did a great job decorating with your Ikea finds. I love the greenery. I try to keep extra on hand {and buy some on clearance after Christmas} because it always comes in handy to tuck in somewhere.
ReplyDeleteIt's beginning to look a lot like Christmas :) I love all of the greenery! Very pretty Lisa.
ReplyDeleteLove this post - I need an IKEA closer to me after seeing all these cuties!! Wondering about your red/orange star - is that a lamp or candle base? Thanks for some great ideas!
ReplyDeleteHi Tara
DeleteThe Red Star is actually a very hard cardboard and has a light in it. The light comes out easily and the star folds flat for storage. They come in red, silver and white. I love them.
wow, you got a lot of stuff for $100 bucks! I wish I had an Ikea near me.
ReplyDeleteSince discovering IKEA a couple years ago I've been moving it right into my home....beds, EKTORP sofa, pots and pans and now wood countertops in my new kitchen. Working on a list for my next trip. You did a great job shopping there.......everything looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteLove IKEA and love what you did with all their Christmas stuff!
ReplyDeleteMe too I love IKEA, such a great establishment and they always offers modern furniture. Everything was great Lisa... :)
ReplyDeleteEverything looks beautiful Lisa ~ I am in the midst of hauling out my boxes today and doing a little fa la laing myself. I have never been into an IKEA ~ wish they would come to the Maritimes! Happy week-end.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the ideas, so pretty! I am planning to go to IKEA tomorrow, can't wait!
