Paper Christmas Trees

A little late in the season to post these guys but time slips away so quickly lately.

This is my take on paper trees.

Below you’ll find a very basic tutorial as it really is up to you as to what paper you’ll use, what patterns, what shapes you’ll cut your paper and which embellishments you’ll find to use.

Basically I had a book of Christmas scrapbook paper and chose papers that had nice complimenting patterns.  The stars and any embellishments were bought at the dollar store.

The base of the trees are from Value Village.

I started with 4 papers but added another as I went on.  The number of patterns you use is up to you.  you’ll need only about 1/2 sheet of each though.

Start with cones this size.  You can certainly make them bigger if you wish, but I wouldn’t go any smaller.

Gather a few little sequins or bells or ribbon, whatever you’d like to embellish with. Don’t forget the star for the top.

These old silver candlesticks were bought from my local thrift shop.

I hot glued the styrofoam trees to the candlesticks.

Start cutting your paper in shapes whatever size you want, but make sure they’re about an inch and a half to two inches in length, because you’ll be overlapping the tops.  Secure your papers all around the tree with pins before you glue anything.  Once you know they’ll all fit, hot glue one piece at the top only, then secure it with a pin, glue another piece and secure that back with the pin.  Leave the pins in until the hot glue has cooled and dry.  Take out the  pins and use them to secure the next round.

Once you get to the top you’ll  need to finish it off with rolled paper cone.  Hot glue the cone in place and top with your favorite mini tree topper.

Decorate with small embellishments, ribbons, etc.

I placed these trees in several different locations and loved them in each separate place.
